Megan Clay came the ballpark and meant business on Monday, driving in four on two hits to lead Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals Varsity past Central Arkansas Christian 10-1 on Monday. Clay drove in runs on a double in the first and a triple in the second.
An early lead helped propel Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals Varsity to victory. Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals Varsity scored on a double by Clay in the first inning, a triple by Clay in the second inning, a single by Cloie Mitchell in the second inning, a double by Kylie Burnett in the second inning, and a single by Shanna Shoptaw in the second inning.
In the bottom of the first inning, Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals Varsity tied things up at one. Clay doubled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.
Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals Varsity pulled away for good with six runs in the second inning. In the second Clay tripled on a 2-1 count, scoring three runs, Mitchell singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run, Burnett doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run, and Shoptaw singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Mitchell earned the win for Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals Varsity. She surrendered one run on seven hits over seven innings, striking out 14.
Katie Fox took the loss for Central Arkansas Christian. She lasted six innings, allowing ten hits and ten runs while striking out six.
Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals Varsity racked up ten hits. Mitchell, Mackenzie Morrow, Clay, and Burnett all had multiple hits for Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals Varsity. Mitchell went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals Varsity in hits.
