Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals ran off with the lead late in the game in a 9-4 victory over Glen Rose on Saturday. The game was tied at fifth with Harmony Grove batting in the top of the fifth when Saige Jewett grounded out, scoring one run.
Glen Rose scored three runs in the second inning, but Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals still managed to pull out the victory. Glen Rose batters contributing to the big inning included Love Doddridge, Laney Crutchfield, and Aubrey Jackson, who each had RBIs in the inning.
Glen Rose opened up an early lead in the second inning when Doddridge doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.
Cloie Mitchell took the win for Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals Varsity. She went six and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on five hits, striking out six and walking zero.
Nikki Schneider took the loss for Glen Rose. She surrendered nine runs on 11 hits over seven innings, striking out nine.
Kylie Burnett started the game for the Lady Cardinals. She lasted one-third of an inning, allowing two hits and one run.
The Lady Cardinals totaled 11 hits. Megan Clay, Ragan Purdy, Shanna Shoptaw, and Burnett all managed multiple hits for Harmony Grove. Burnett, Shoptaw, Purdy, and Clay each collected two hits to lead Harmony Grove.
