Cardinals News · Harmony Grove Cardinals Snag Lead In Seventh Inning To Defeat Lake Hamilton


  • Harmony Grove Cardinals defeated Lake Hamilton 7-5 on Tuesday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at five with the Cardinals batting in the top of the seventh when Grant Cross doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.
  • Lake Hamilton scored three runs in the third inning, but Harmony Grove still managed to pull out the victory. The big inning for Lake Hamilton came thanks to an error on a ball put in play by Carson Harris and Garrett Lynch and a fielder’s choice by Joey Kilzer.
  • Lake Hamilton fired up the offense in the second inning. Lynch hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring one run.
  • The Cardinals notched four runs in the fifth inning. The offensive firepower by the Cardinals was led by Matthew Rouse and Jared Toler, who each had RBIs in the inning.
  • Cross took the win for Harmony Grove Cardinals Varsity. He went two innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out four and walking zero.  Trey Miller and Toler entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Toler recorded the last three outs to earn the save for the Cardinals.
  • Cade Payton took the loss for Lake Hamilton. He surrendered two runs on three hits over one inning, striking out one and walking zero.
  • Spencer Gracie started the game for Lake Hamilton. He went four innings, allowing three runs on one hit and striking out six James McCormick started the game for the Cardinals. He allowed zero hits and three runs over two and a third innings, striking out three
  • The Cardinals collected eight hits. TolerCameron Palmer, and Cross each collected multiple hits for the Cardinals.
