In boys action, Mena and the Cardinals battled to a 0-0 tie at the half with both team playing stellar defense. In the second half, Mena was able to find the net in the 26th minute off of a rebound putting the match at 1-0 in the Bearcat’s favor. Mena again scored in the 16th minute off of a direct kick that made it passed the Cardinals defensive wall. Again, the Bearcats scored on a questionable call with the ball hitting the crossbar that was ruled a goal in the 9th minute giving Mena a 3-0 lead. The Cardinals went on the attack and were able to score off an assist from William Vasquez to Grant Moen with two minutes remaining. Mena was able to hold off the Cardinals for a 3-1 victory.
The Lady Bearcat started fast scoring in the 34th minute of the game and never looked back as they would add three more goals in the half, pushing their halftime lead to 4-0. The Lady Cardinals would tighten their defense after the half to just allow one goal in the second half ending the match at 5-0.
