Leighton Withers helps the Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals down Genoa Central 2-1
The Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals beat Genoa Central 2-1 in five innings on Monday at Murfreesboro behind Leighton Withers, who went 2-3.
She singled in the fourth inning and doubled in the fifth inning.
Flouray ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. She lasted just five innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
The second inning saw Genoa Central score its only run on the day on an RBI single by Beckham.
The Lady Cardinals didn’t relinquish the lead after scoring one run in the fifth inning when they scored on an RBI double by Withers.

Harmony Grove jumped out to an early lead on Murfreesboro and captured a 7-0 victory on Monday at Murfreesboro.
The game was decided quickly as the Lady Cardinals exerted their will early with six runs in the first three innings.
An RBI single by LJ Helmich during the first inning and an RBI double by Faith Otts, an RBI double by Brooke Roush, a two-run triple by Leighton Withers, and a groundout by Helmich in the second inning fueled the Lady Cardinal’s offense early.
Roush had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits.
The Harmony Grove Cardinal’s Kristen Dempsey kept Murfreesboro off the scoreboard for all five innings she was on the rubber. She pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on three hits while ringing up four.
Helmich, Withers and Roush helped lead Harmony Grove. They combined for six hits and six RBIs.
