The Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals Varsity fall to Bastrop (LA) 6-5

The Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals Varsity fell to Bastrop 6-5 at Jonesboro, Louisiana.

#16 got it done in the circle on the way to a win. She allowed two runs over seven innings. #16 struck out eight, walked three and gave up four hits.

Bastrop was sparked by #22 and #51, who teamed up for four hits and four RBIs.

LJ Helmich was charged with the loss. She allowed six runs in six innings, walked one and struck out nine.

Bastrop never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring three runs on a three-run double by #22.

Bastrop added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth. #22 kicked things off with a double, plating #12 and #26. That was followed up by #51’s single, bringing home #16.

After pushing across five runs in the top of the sixth, the Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals Varsity  faced just a 6-5 deficit. A bases loaded walk, an RBI single by Faith Otts, a hit by pitch, and a two-run double by Kristen Dempsey fueled the Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals Varsity comeback. The Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals Varsity threat came to an end when #16 finally got Leighton Withers to strike out.

Cedar Creek outdone by Leighton Withers and the Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals Varsity, 9-4

The Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals Varsity beat Cedar Creek 9-4 in seven innings on Saturday at Jonesboro, Louisiana behind Leighton Withers, who went 3-3 at the plate.

She tripled in the fifth inning and singled in the first and sixth innings.

Kristen Dempsey got it done on the rubber on the way to a win. She allowed four runs over six innings. She struck out five, walked seven and surrendered three hits.

#4 was the game’s losing pitcher. She allowed nine runs in seven innings, walked four and struck out three.

The Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals Varsity never trailed after scoring one run in the first on an RBI single by Withers.

The Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals Varsity scored two runs in the third inning, and then followed it up with two more in the seventh. In the third, the Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals Varsity CFH scored on an RBI single by Dempsey, bringing home Josee Carman.

The Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals Varsity increased their lead with three runs in the sixth. Carman kicked things off with a single, scoring Brooke Roush. That was followed up by Withers’ single, bringing home Faith Otts.

A four-run seventh inning helped bring Cedar Creek within five. An error, a two-run error, and a groundout by #16 gave Cedar Creek life. LJ Helmich got the last out, as Cedar Creek’s #6 flew out.

Early lead gives the Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals Varsity victory over West Monroe JV, 14-3

The Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals Varsity jumped out to an early lead on West Monroe JV and captured a 14-3 victory on Saturday at Jonesboro, Louisiana.

With eight runs in the first three innings, the Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals Varsity left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

A two-run double by Kristen Dempsey during the first inning and an RBI single by Rachel Kesterson and a groundout by Josee Carman in the second inning supplied the early offense for the Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals Varsity.

The Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals Varsity was led by a flawless day at the dish by Dempsey, who went 3-3 against West Monroe JV’s pitching.

The Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals Varsity got the win thanks in large part to LJ Helmich’s dominant, seven-strikeout performance. Helmich allowed one earned run, four hits and no walks over six innings.

#20 couldn’t get it done on the rubber for West Monroe JV, taking a loss. She allowed 14 runs in six innings, walked five and struck out two.
