Haskell Harmony Grove fishing team had nine student anglers/five teams compete out of 115 this past Sunday at Lake Ouachita for the TBF Arkansas High School state tournament.  The fishing was tough as 39 of the 115 teams did not weigh a fish.

Team of junior Bryar Hailsip and senior Austin Harklau led the Cardinals finishing 23rd with 4 fish that weighed 7.01 lbs.  Hailsip the veteran for the Cardinals has fished the state tournament for three years after Sunday and this was his team’s best finish yet.  Team of freshman Carson Humphrey and Jayce Harrison finished 45th with three fish that weighed 5.06 lbs.  At 50th place was freshman Jarrett Prince/Brock Trammel that weighed three fish for 4.08 lbs.  Senior Sam Harrison and Junior Joseph Gatti came in at 53rd with three fish for 4.03 lbs.  Freshman Kanon Harmon fished with his friend from Bauxite and they finished 64th place with two fish for 3.0 lbs.

The Cardinals will have a couple of teams fish at the Arkansas Youth fishing Association Wildcard tournament May 20th at Lake Maumelle.  Also on May 20th is the Arkansas High School Bassers Classic Championship on Lake Degray.  The Cardinals had two teams qualify for this tournament by finishing top 20 in their point system.

The fishing team wants to thank all the sponsors/ people that have helped to get the team to where it is today.  The future of the team is looking bright!
